Bank of England Expands into Leeds with New Office Plans

The Bank of England is expanding its presence in Leeds, announcing plans to move into a new office at Capitol House in Bond Court by late 2028. The bank currently has around 300 staff in Leeds, but aims to increase this number to at least 500 by 2027.

Bank governor Andrew Bailey described the new office as an 'important milestone' in the bank's long-term commitment to the city. He said that the move will help house the bank's growing headcount and strengthen its presence across the UK.

The expansion is part of a broader overhaul of the bank's office footprint, which includes refurbishing its historic Threadneedle Street headquarters in London. The bank plans to consolidate its property footprint in London by 2028, with the new Leeds office being an integral part of this strategy.
