Bitcoin Price Gap Widens Between Dollars and Euros
Bitcoin's price on Saturday evening stood at $84,828 in dollars and €75,348 in euros. However, when comparing the year-to-date performance of Bitcoin, it is clear that there is a significant difference between the two figures.
In dollars, Bitcoin has declined by 4.43% since January 2, 2026, while in euros, it has decreased by only 0.46%. This discrepancy arises from the exchange rate, which affects the price of Bitcoin in euros but not in dollars.
The European Central Bank's reference rate shows that the dollar has appreciated 4.42% against the euro over the past nine months. As a result, the euro price of Bitcoin is influenced by the fluctuating exchange rate.
A German investor buying €10,000 worth of Bitcoin on January 2, 2026 would have received around 0.1321 bitcoin at the euro price of the time. On Saturday evening, the same quantity would be worth €9,954, representing a loss of €46 before fees.
