BOJ Head Skips Jackson Hole Amid Scheduling Conflict

Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda will not attend the US Federal Reserve's annual economic symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, due to scheduling conflicts. The three-day event is set to take place from Thursday and will bring together central bank officials, policymakers, and academics from around the world.

A Bank of Japan official stated that the decision was made after reviewing Ueda's schedule and was not related to health reasons. Ueda had previously attended the Economic Policy Symposium in 2023 and 2025. He was hospitalized in June for a hepatic cyst infection, but it is unclear if this played a role in his decision.

The event will be the first since Fed Chair Kevin Warsh took office in May, with attention focused on his speech.
