BOJ Hike Expected to Push Rates to Three-Decade High Amid Inflation Pressure

The Bank of Japan is likely to raise interest rates by 25 basis points at its two-day meeting on Friday, according to a CNBC survey.

This would signal an acceleration of the tightening cycle, faster than the six-month interval the Bank has been following since it started policy normalization in March 2024.

The BOJ last raised rates in June, and this hike would push them to a fresh three-decade high. The survey also predicts that the yen will trade between 155 and 160 in the next month.
