BOJ Hikes Rates for First Time Since 1995 Amid Dissent

The Bank of Japan (BOJ) has raised interest rates in a widely anticipated move. The policy rate was increased by 25 basis points to 1.25%, marking the highest level since 1995. This decision was made despite two board members, Asada and Sato, dissenting from the hike.

According to Governor Kazuo Ueda, the BOJ remains committed to raising rates and adjusting the degree of monetary accommodation in response to changing economic conditions.
