BOJ Set for Most Aggressive Rate Hike Since 1990 Amid Inflation Fears
The Bank of Japan is poised to make its most aggressive interest rate hike in decades on Friday, as it seeks to contain persistent inflationary pressures.
All 12 BOJ watchers surveyed by Bloomberg expect the central bank to raise its policy rate from 1% to 1.25%, marking the second hike in three months and the fastest pace since March 1990.
This rapid succession of rate increases has been prompted by concerns over upside inflation risks, which have been fueled by a strong economy and rising prices for goods and services.
