Bulgarian MP Slams Government's Inflation Aid Package as 'Drop in the Ocean'
Bulgarian MP Vladislav Panev has expressed skepticism about the government's plan to provide a one-time aid of 50 euros for people with low incomes, stating that it is 'a drop in the ocean' against the backdrop of inflation.
The amount in question is approximately 27 million euros, which Panev believes cannot compensate for the pressure from higher prices of fuel, food, and other goods. He pointed out that price increases at gas stations are transmitted throughout the entire supply chain and affect daily household expenses.
Panev suggested that larger-scale measures were possible if the budget deficit was lower. The current budget deficit is 5.7% of GDP, and assistance for people with low incomes is aimed at groups below the poverty line.
