Bulgaria's Inflation Rate Surges to Second-Highest in EU
Bulgaria's annual inflation rate hit 5.6% in September, making it the second-highest in the EU, just behind Lithuania at 6.1%, according to Eurostat.
The country also recorded a monthly fall of 0.1% in retail prices from August, with only two instances of month-on-month price drops since January 2026.
The annual rate rose by 0.6 percentage points compared to the previous month, indicating that goods and services cost more than they did in September last year.
Eurostat also reported that the eurozone's annual inflation reached 3.8% in September, up from 3.2% in August, with food prices rising at a faster rate of 1.4%, and core inflation increasing to 2.5%.
