UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham is set to outline his economic vision at next week's Labour Party conference, amid rising inflation and energy costs. According to Bloomberg, Burnham will deliver the keynote address on Tuesday, focusing on restoring confidence in Britain's economic prospects.
The prime minister has already made reindustrialisation and regional economic development central themes of his government, including establishing a second Downing Street office in Manchester known as No10 North.
However, the immediate economic environment could complicate those plans. Burnham is preparing to acknowledge that inflation and energy bills may rise over the next six months due to the Iran war's impact on living costs.
The Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey said that avoiding further interest-rate increases was becoming harder, according to Bloomberg.
