Canada's TSX Composite Index Declines as Intl Tower Hill Mines Plunges

Currency markets in Canada saw some changes on September 28, 2026. The S&P/TSX Composite Index declined 0.9% to 35489.86. Intl Tower Hill Mines led the decline among large local companies, dropping 8.4%. Other significant losers included shares of Rio2 and Aris Mining, which fell 7.8% and 7.5%, respectively.

BlackBerry emerged as a leader during the session, surging 8.1%. Northern Dynasty Minerals and Gildan Activewear also saw increases of 4.6% and 4.2%, respectively.

The Canadian dollar weakened against the U.S. dollar to US$0.71. The WSJ Dollar Index increased 0.2% to 96.86. The 10-year Canadian government bond yield rose 3.77 basis points to 3.960%.
