Canadian Business Leaders Gear Up for Busy Week Ahead

Canadian business leaders are set for a busy week as key events and announcements unfold across the country. On Monday, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and Ontario Premier Doug Ford will attend an event in Calgary to discuss Canada's economic future, specifically how the country builds, transports, and sells its energy globally.

Statistics Canada is also expected to release its report on Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for July on Tuesday. According to preliminary estimates released last month, real GDP was essentially unchanged in July due to offsetting increases and decreases across various sectors.

Bank of Canada senior deputy governor Carolyn Rogers will give a speech in Victoria on Thursday. Notably, the central bank had kept its key interest rate at 2.25% earlier this month, but financial markets have raised the odds of a rate hike later this year in recent weeks.

Regional home sales results for September are expected to start coming out towards the end of the week, including numbers from Calgary and Vancouver. National home sales in August were down 6.9% compared to the same month last year.
