A Canadian couple from British Columbia has been forced to alter their wedding plans after a major vet bill derailed their original vision. Madeleine Pincombe, 40, and Shane Dixon-Mitchell, 31, had planned to fly their entire family to the UK for their wedding at Warwick Castle in April 2027.

Their savings took a hit when their dog Duke passed away after being diagnosed with a blood disease. The resulting vet bill of 11,000 Canadian dollars (£5,830) left them with no choice but to scale back their plans.

Instead of hosting a large family gathering, the couple will now travel alone to the UK for their wedding. The unexpected financial burden forced them to abandon the idea of bringing loved ones along for the celebration.
