Canadian Dollar Gains Strength Amid Ongoing Trade Tensions
The Canadian dollar has strengthened relative to its US counterpart on Thursday morning.
At 9:20 a.m. CDT, the Canadian dollar was trading at US$0.7136 or US$1=C$1.4013, up from Wednesday's close of US$0.7101 or US$1=C$1.4083.
The recent trade tensions between the US and Iran have continued to impact global markets, with no signs of a resolution in sight.
The Bank of Canada's July 15 meeting minutes showed a split opinion on the sustainability of Canada's economic recovery, which will be closely watched ahead of Friday's GDP data release.
