Carney Confirms Modi's Canadian Visit Amid Potash Industry Tensions

US President Donald Trump stated that his country will continue to buy potash from Canada but is also looking to purchase it from Belarus at a lower price. In response, Carney expressed admiration for the Canadian potash industry, noting that Canada supplies 40% of the world's potash and is an 'incredible strength of our economy.'

Carney confirmed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Canada in December to sign a trade deal between the two countries. This comes after a previously strained relationship between Canada and India, which had paused free-trade agreement talks in 2023.
