Cash Still King in NZ Despite Digital Payment Options
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) has released new data showing that cash is still widely used in everyday transactions. A survey of 6,000 Kiwis found that more than half were dissatisfied with access to cash services. Among adults aged 18-29, over half use cash for everyday purchases.
Karen Silk, Assistant Governor for Money at the Reserve Bank, discussed the findings on Midday Report. The data suggests that despite growing digital payment options, many Kiwis remain reliant on cash.
