CIBC Surpasses Rivals with Record Earnings Growth
The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (TSX:CM) has quietly become one of the standout performers in the S&P/TSX 60, a rare feat considering it often flies under the radar compared to its larger rivals.
On August 27, 2026, CIBC reported adjusted Earnings Per Share (EPS) of C$2.73 for the third quarter, marking its ninth consecutive quarter of double-digit adjusted EPS growth and a 26% increase from last year.
Adjusted Return on Equity (ROE) reached 16.8%, with profitability also rising, making it second only to Royal Bank of Canada among the big five banks on that measure for the quarter.
The bank's stock has seen significant growth, with shares up about 70% over the past 12 months and a market value of roughly C$157 billion.
