Cuba's Informal Market Sees Dollar Surge to 780 CUP, Euro Hits 878 CUP
The informal currency market in Cuba closed on October 2, 2026, with significant gains for both the US dollar and euro. The US dollar ended the day at 780 CUP, marking an increase of 9.5 CUP from the previous session, while the euro climbed to 878 CUP, up eight CUP from the previous day.
The dollar has seen a notable rise over the past week, increasing by 47 CUP and representing a 6.4% gain from 733 CUP just seven days prior. Over the same period, the euro has risen by 42.5 CUP, a 5.1% increase.
The dollar's value is currently at its highest in the last 30 days, exceeding a low of 678 CUP during the same timeframe. The euro also reaches its peak for the past month, outpacing the dollar by 98 CUP and solidifying its dominance in Cuba's parallel market.
