Digital Realty Secures 510 Million Swiss Francs for Green Data Center Projects
Digital Realty Trust, a global leader in carrier- and cloud-neutral data center solutions, has completed a CHF 510 million Swiss bond offering. The transaction, announced on October 6, 2026, involved three tranches of Swiss franc-denominated bonds issued by Digital Constellation B.V., a finance subsidiary of the company's operating partnership. The bonds include CHF 225 million of 1.6803% notes due 2029, CHF 185 million of 2.0600% notes due 2032, and CHF 100 million of 2.4150% notes due 2036. All bonds are senior unsecured obligations guaranteed by Digital Realty Trust, Inc. and other affiliated entities.
The offering was priced on September 28, 2026, with issuance on October 6, 2026, following customary closing conditions. The bonds were sold outside the United States under Regulation S and in Switzerland under an exemption from prospectus requirements. Net proceeds, estimated at CHF 508.4 million after expenses, will primarily finance or refinance projects aligned with Digital Realty's Green Bond Framework, including data center development and energy efficiency initiatives.
Pending allocation, proceeds may also be used for debt repayment, property acquisitions, or other corporate purposes. Additionally, Digital Realty launched a separate offering of Euro-denominated Guaranteed Notes on the same day, targeting similar green projects. The company's Green Bond Framework, aligned with ICMA principles and UN Sustainable Development Goals, has allocated $8.5 billion since 2015 to support green buildings and renewable energy projects.
