Dollar Falls to 152 Yen Amid BOJ Rate Hike Speculation
The US dollar briefly fell to the 152 yen range in Tokyo on Tuesday, its lowest point since February, as investors speculated about a potential rate hike by the Bank of Japan.
The dollar weakened by more than 2 yen from Monday's close, with expectations growing that the interest rate differential between Japan and the US will narrow.
Japan has come under pressure to raise its key interest rate in response to the strengthening yen, with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently calling for action to stem the yen's decline.
Takuya Kanda, a senior researcher at Gaitame.com Research Institute, noted that 'yen buying is gaining further momentum', while cautioning about the rapid appreciation of the yen in afternoon trading.
