Dollar Nears Record High in Cuba's Informal Market
The US dollar has reached its highest value in Cuba's informal exchange market in the past month, trading at 745 Cuban pesos (CUP) on Monday. This marks a 27-peso gain from last week and a 10.4% rise over the past 30 days.
The euro is also on an upward trend, closing at 850 CUP, up three pesos from Sunday's value. Over the past month, the euro has jumped from 763 to 850 CUP, representing an approximate 11.4% increase.
Despite these gains, there remains a significant gap between the informal and official exchange rates set by the Central Bank of Cuba for Segment III. The disparity stands at 64 pesos for the dollar and 74 pesos for the euro.
