Dollar Weakens Amid Expectations of Japan's Lagging Interest Rates
The US dollar experienced a slight decline on Tuesday while the Japanese yen continued to face pressure. Traders believe that Japan's interest rates will remain lower compared to major peers, following a recent shift in global central banks towards more hawkish monetary policies.
This led to the yen slipping against the dollar, reaching 157.47 by the end of the Asia session. Meanwhile, the euro and pound sterling saw slight increases, with prices at $1.1476 and $1.3383 respectively.
The Australian dollar hovered around $0.7120, while the New Zealand dollar showed a small recovery after a near-three-month low. It rose by approximately 0.4% to $0.5736, following remarks from the central bank chief that traders interpreted as hawkish.
