ECB Keeps Interest Rates Unchanged Amid Calls for Hike
Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank (ECB), addressed questions from the press regarding the ECB's decision to leave key rates unchanged at its July policy meeting.
Lagarde noted that there were some who asked whether the ECB should consider a hike in interest rates.
She emphasized that the ECB is positioned adequately to wait and receive a long list of fresh data before the September meeting, which will inform their decision-making process.
Lagarde also highlighted the importance of being attentive to any risk of second-round effects, but stated that they are not seeing these effects yet.
