ECB's Blockchain Push Boosts Case for Secure Data and Interoperability
The European Central Bank (ECB) has launched Pontes, a service connecting its payment infrastructure with blockchain-based financial markets. This move is expected to strengthen the case for infrastructure linking conventional finance with distributed ledgers.
Pontes allows banks and investors to settle tokenized transactions in ECB-backed euros, reducing reliance on private stablecoins. While Chainlink was not named as a participant, the expansion of tokenized finance supports demand for secure data and interoperability, markets that Chainlink serves.
Remittix is another project addressing the consumer side of this transition by linking crypto with bank settlement. Its platform allows users to fund transfers with over 50 cryptocurrencies, while recipients receive fiat across over 30 currencies.
