EU Inflation Rises to 3.0%, Euro Area Hits 2.9%
The European Union's annual inflation rate increased to 3.0% in July 2026, up from 2.9% in June, according to figures published by Eurostat. This marks a 1.0 percentage point increase compared to the same period last year. The euro area saw its annual inflation rate rise to 2.9%, also up from 2.8% in June.
The lowest annual inflation rates were recorded in Sweden at 0.3%, followed by Czechia at 1.3%, Denmark, and Hungary both at 1.6%. On the other hand, Romania experienced the highest rate of 8.2%, while Lithuania reported 5.4%, with Cyprus and Bulgaria both at 4.4%.
The contribution to the annual euro area inflation rate came from services (+1.55 percentage points), energy (+0.94 percentage points), non-energy industrial goods (+0.23 percentage points), and food, alcohol & tobacco (+0.23 percentage points).
