Euro Area Annual Inflation Hits 3.3% in August, Driven by Energy Prices
The euro area annual inflation rate rose to 3.3% in August, according to data released by Zprávy Kurzy.cz. This represents an increase from July's 2.8%. The main contributors to the rise were energy prices, which increased by 14.3%, followed closely by services at 3.0%.
Breaking down the components of inflation, we see that energy is expected to have the highest annual rate in August. Non-energy industrial goods and food, alcohol & tobacco also saw increases, but at lower rates than energy. The only category to show a decrease was processed food, alcohol & tobacco, with an annual rate of 0.6%.
The euro area's largest economies, such as Germany and France, showed moderate inflation rates, ranging from 2.0% to 2.9%. Other countries in the region experienced higher inflation rates, including Estonia at 6.2%, Greece at 3.1%, and Spain at 2.7%.
