Euro Area Inflation Hits 3.2% Amid Energy Price Pressures
The euro area's annual inflation rate rose to 3.2% in August 2026 from 2.9% in July, according to Eurostat.
Services and energy were the largest contributors to euro area inflation, making up a significant portion of the increase.
Romania recorded the highest rate among EU member states at 6.3%, followed by Lithuania at 5.6% and Cyprus at 5.2%. In contrast, Sweden's annual inflation rate remained low at 0.3%.
