The euro gained strength against the dollar in London foreign exchange trading on August 26th. The currency stood at $1.1670-1.1680, up $0.0010 from the same time the previous day.

This rise was fueled by German economic indicators exceeding market expectations and comments from European Central Bank (ECB) Executive Board member Isabel Schnabel.

Schnabel stated that at current policy rates, inflation is unlikely to return to target over the medium term, and further monetary tightening will be necessary due to upside risks to inflation posed by the resilience of the eurozone economy and the prolonged conflict in the Middle East.
