Euro Surpasses $1.17, Favoring Importers but Hurting Exporters

The euro has surpassed $1.17 for the first time in three months, reaching its highest level against the US currency since then.

This development has both winners and losers. For Spain, a stronger euro makes imports denominated in dollars cheaper, benefiting companies that import oil, raw materials, and products from the United States.

Spanish tourists planning to travel to the US also benefit from a stronger euro, as it allows them to buy more with each euro.

However, a stronger euro can be problematic for exporters and companies that earn a significant part of their income in dollars. Spanish multinationals may see their profits decline when converting their dollar earnings to euros.
