Euro Zone Economy Posts Stronger-Than-Expected Q2 Growth

Instruments

The euro zone economy grew by 0.4% in Q2, exceeding forecasts and providing evidence that the region's recovery remains intact.

Germany led the pack with a 0.2% growth rate, beating economists' expectations for 0.1%. The country's exports were boosted by supply disruptions affecting some Asian competitors during the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

The strong performance was driven by broad-based resilience across the region, with Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands all recording quarterly growth.

The European Central Bank (ECB) will continue to monitor inflation closely, as higher oil prices resulting from the Middle East conflict could increase production and transportation costs across the euro area.
