Euro Zone Inflation Hits 3.8%, ECB Interest Rate Hikes Looming
Inflation across the euro zone surged to 3.8% in September, exceeding expectations and putting pressure on the European Central Bank (ECB) to raise interest rates.
The increase was driven primarily by higher fuel and natural gas prices, with food costs also contributing to the rise in inflation.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, rose to 2.5% from 2.4%, reflecting higher services prices.
The ECB's next move is expected to be carefully considered, as policymakers weigh financial stability alongside inflation concerns.
