European Stocks Edge Higher Amid Ongoing Inflation Concerns
European stocks made modest gains on Friday, as investors watched oil prices and inflation concerns. The FTSE 100 rose by 0.18%, while France's CAC 40 gained 0.13%. Spain's IBEX rose 0.23% and Germany's DAX added 0.20%.
The moves came after a difficult opening day for European markets in October, when the FTSE 100 dropped around 1.7% and the CAC 40 lost more than 1.6%. Brent crude has stayed above $100 a barrel, pushing up energy costs and inflation concerns.
Investors are also watching government borrowing costs and developments in the Middle East, which have added to uncertainty for European markets. France's public finances have come under scrutiny, with French government bond yield spreads widening sharply.
