Euros Lost Ground as Albanian Lek Strengthens Amid Eurozone Decline
The value of the euro has declined in Albania by 4.7% compared to last year, with one euro now exchanging for 92.6 leks, down from 97.3 leks in August 2025.
This decline is reflected in the Bank of Albania's official course and affects various sectors, including households, salaries, imports, exports, and businesses.
Citizens and businesses paying loans, imports, or travel expenses in euros benefit from this depreciation, while exporters, tourism sector workers, individuals receiving salaries in euros, and families with income from immigration receive less money for the same amount in euros.
The stronger currency also helps curb inflationary pressures by making imported goods cheaper, according to the Bank of Albania.
