Fed's Collins Reaffirms Support for Tighter Policy Amid Rising Inflation Risks
Federal Reserve Bank of Boston President Susan Collins has reaffirmed her support for the central bank's recent policy tightening measures, citing rising inflation risks. In a post on LinkedIn, Collins emphasized that elevated price pressures necessitate a more restrictive policy stance to achieve long-term price stability.
Collins noted that 'a somewhat more restrictive federal funds rate will help ensure that inflation durably returns to target.'
The Federal Reserve has been grappling with persistently high inflation, which has remained above the 2 percent target for over five years. In July, headline PCE inflation was 3.7 percent, while core PCE came in at 3.3 percent.
