Ghanaian Cedi Depreciates Further Against Major Currencies
The Ghanaian Cedi continued its downward trend against the US dollar on Monday, October 5, 2026. Compared to Friday's rates, the Cedi recorded an average buying rate of GHS11.82 and a selling rate of GHS12.16, marking a slight depreciation of one pesewa in both rates. At forex bureaus, the Cedi was trading at GHS11.90 for buying and GHS12.25 for selling dollars, according to data from Cedirates.com.
On the Bank of Ghana's interbank market, the Cedi was trading at GHS11.70 for buying and GHS11.72 for selling. The British pound saw an average forex bureau rate of GHS15.42 for buying and GHS16.35 for selling, while the interbank rate stood at GHS15.50. The Euro was trading at GHS13.17 for buying and GHS14.01 for selling at forex bureaus, with an interbank rate of GHS13.18.
In the money transfer sector, LemFi and Taptap Send offered dollar rates of GHS11.70 and GHS11.75, respectively, for remittances from the US or UK to Ghana. For the British pound, LemFi and Taptap Send quoted GHS15.52 and GHS15.57, respectively. For the Euro, Taptap Send and LemFi quoted GHS13.25 and GHS13.32, respectively.
For digital subscription payments via Visa and Mastercard, the exchange rate for services like Netflix, Spotify, and Apple Music stood at GHS12.60 and GHS12.61, respectively.
