The global equity index rose slightly after the latest US inflation data, which showed annual inflation remained steady at 2% for the 65th consecutive month. This is above the Federal Reserve's target rate of 2%, but experts say it won't lead to a rate change at the Fed's September meeting.

James Ragan, co-chief investment officer and director of investment management & research at D.A. Davidson, said 'the economy still looks pretty good' and there's nothing in the data that suggests acceleration. The market has been looking for a reason to pull back, but this isn't it.

Nvidia's (NVDA.O) earnings report is also on investors' minds today, with a focus on the company's commentary on financing of the AI spending boom.
