Gold Prices Rebound Amid Easing Tensions, But Face Headwinds From US Interest Rates
The gold market is experiencing continued volatility as it consolidates due to pressure from the strong U.S. dollar and expectations of Federal Reserve rate hikes.
Despite this, spot gold rebounded in early Asian trading on Wednesday, reaching around $4,360 before retreating to near $4,330. The rally was fueled by easing expectations regarding the Middle East situation as markets reassess the geopolitical risk premium.
The U.S. side stated that it held approximately three-hour talks with Iranian representatives, describing the discussions as progressing positively. Meanwhile, market reports suggest that Iran may reopen the Strait of Hormuz in the coming days, but these claims remain unverified by independent sources.
The anticipated resumption of Saudi Arabia's energy transportation system is also a focal point for market attention. If the facilities are restored smoothly, it would help reduce reliance on key maritime chokepoints for crude-oil shipments and lower the risk of energy supply disruptions.
