GOP Lawmaker Seeks to Redirect Fed Funds to Healthcare Reform
A Republican lawmaker has proposed a plan to fund healthcare legislation by redirecting money from the Federal Reserve's interest payments to banks.
The estimated $1 trillion the Fed will spend over the next decade on bank reserve interest payments would instead be used to implement the Great American Healthcare Act, according to the proposal.
This plan is part of a larger effort by lawmakers to find alternative funding sources for healthcare reform, which has been a contentious issue in Washington.
