Hedge Funds Rebuild Yen Shorts Amid Currency Pressure
Hedge funds are once again taking short bets against Japan's yen, despite previous efforts to cut their exposure. According to data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and compiled by Bloomberg, leveraged traders held approximately ¥210 billion ($1.3 billion) tied to bearish wagers on the yen in the week ended September 29.
This latest positioning shows that those traders wiped out their bullish bets from the prior two weeks, instead opting for a more cautious stance against the Japanese currency.
