Ibex Rebounds as Fed Hikes Rates Amid Eurozone Inflation Concerns
The Ibex 35 index rebounded by 1% after the Federal Reserve's interest rate hike, closing at 19,831.8 points. This recovery came despite concerns over inflation and a correction in oil prices.
The Fed's decision to raise rates was seen as a sign of economic strength, but also sparked worries about future monetary tightening. The Bank of England kept its official rate unchanged at 3.75%, citing no clear signs of second-round effects on prices.
The rebound in the Ibex was led by Mapfre, Banco Santander, and Aena, which gained 2.62%, 2.06%, and 2% respectively. However, Cellnex and Inditex lagged behind, falling 1.45% and 0.72%. The eurozone inflation rate rose to 3.2% in August, keeping the European Central Bank under scrutiny.
