Iraq, US Seal Deal for Continuous Cash Dollar Shipments

The Iraqi government has announced that it has reached an agreement with the United States to ensure the continuous flow of cash dollar shipments to Iraq. A new shipment is expected to arrive in the coming days, following several months of disruptions. The agreement comes after Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi's visit to the US.

Haider al-Aboudi, an Iraqi government spokesperson, confirmed that the deal was reached as a result of the prime minister's meeting with Washington officials. He stated that the new shipment is part of a long-standing financial arrangement where proceeds from Iraqi oil sales are funneled through accounts linked to the Federal Reserve Bank in New York.

The agreement is seen as a positive development, given the importance of cash dollars in meeting Iraqis' foreign currency needs. In April, the US halted a $500 million cash shipment, but some shipments had resumed in July after months of suspension.
