Japan FSA Warns BitHills Over Unregistered Lending Operations
Japan's Financial Services Agency (FSA) has issued a warning to BitHills, the operator of CryptoPawn, over unregistered lending operations. The agency stated that BitHills was engaging in moneylending without separate authorization.
CryptoPawn allows users to deposit digital assets such as Bitcoin, Ether, and stablecoins as collateral to borrow Japanese yen. Questions have been raised about possible links between CryptoPawn and IZAKA-YA, a digital-asset service embroiled in a recent withdrawal halt controversy.
The FSA's warning comes after Nada News reported on September 11 that the agency had warned BitHills for conducting moneylending business without separate authorization. It has not been confirmed whether the two services are operated by related entities, but CryptoPawn had previously used its official blog to explain how to sign up for IZAKA-YA and use its lending service.
