King Charles Graces New $20 Bill as Bank of Canada Unveils Redesign
The Bank of Canada is set to unveil a new $20 bill featuring King Charles. This marks a change from previous designs, which have featured the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The image of King Charles replaces that of his mother, who reigned for 70 years before her death in 2022. He ascended to the throne at the age of 73 and has been featured on Canadian coins since 2023.
This redesign was directed by Justin Trudeau's government as part of their next process. The reigning monarch has been a feature on Canadian bills since 1935, with King Charles becoming the first to be featured in this capacity.
