Lincoln County Unemployment Rate Drops to 5.8% in July

According to recent data from the Oregon Employment Department, Lincoln County's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 5.8% in July, down from 6.2% a year ago and 5.9% in June.

The county had 20,354 employed individuals and 1,292 unemployed, while Tillamook County reported 11,576 employed and 617 unemployed in the same month.

Statewide, the unemployment rate remained at 5.2%, with a national rate of 4.1%. Lincoln County's nonfarm payroll employment decreased by 150 to 18,290 jobs (-0.8%), while Tillamook County saw an increase of 120 jobs to 9,700.

Leisure and hospitality added jobs in both counties, but local education lost 320 jobs in Lincoln County (-30.2%). Retail trade lost 180 jobs (-6.4%) in Lincoln County, and local government lost 140 jobs (-4.4%).
