Lloyds Bank Tops Market with 8% Interest Rate on Savings
Lloyds Bank is offering its customers an impressive 8% interest rate on savings for one year, significantly higher than the Bank of England's current base rate of 3.75%. This comes as new figures from Moneyfacts show that there are now a record number of live savings accounts paying more than the base rate.
The interest rates offered by banks on various financial products, including mortgages and savings accounts, are influenced by the Bank of England's base rate. Rachel Springall, a finance expert at Moneyfacts, notes that things are looking promising but urges savers to be proactive in securing better rates.
Lloyds Bank and Bank of Scotland current account customers can get 8% fixed for 12 months with their regular savings account, allowing them to stash away up to £250 per month. Based on maximum contributions, it could yield around £120 interest after a year.
