Mitsubishi Heavy Pours $634 Million into Shipbuilding Expansion
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. is investing 100 billion yen ($634 million) to expand its shipbuilding capacity, taking advantage of government initiatives to boost demand in strategic sectors.
The company's fully-owned Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co. will establish facilities on Choshu Dejima, western Japan, starting operations in 2030 after construction is completed in 2027.
About 40 billion yen of the investment will be covered by government subsidies, approved by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
