A new report warns that Canada's response to US tariffs must consider the unique economic circumstances of each community, rather than relying on blanket policies. The Federation of Canadian Municipalities and Ivey Business School found that the impact of the trade war is unevenly distributed across Canada.

According to the report, an industrial community's reliance on specific sectors makes it more vulnerable to tariffs, with Romel Mostafa, an economist at Ivey Business School, noting 'There is an opportunity … to strengthen the Team Canada approach in terms of responding and creating resilience in the economy.'

The uncertainty brought by US tariffs has led to a pause in investment and job creation, said London Mayor Josh Morgan. Despite this, his city has seen net job creation, but also experienced labor migration from smaller communities.
