National Bank to Repurchase Up to 10 Million Shares Worth $2.25 Billion
Canada's National Bank of Canada has announced its intention to launch a normal course issuer bid. This move will allow the bank to repurchase up to 10,000,000 of its issued and outstanding common shares for cancellation.
The maximum amount that can be spent on this repurchase is $2.25 billion, which represents approximately 2.6% of the bank's total issued and outstanding common shares as of September 1, 2026.
This normal course issuer bid requires approval from both the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada and the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX).
