Norwegian Krone Stands Firm Against Euro Despite Dovish Risks

ING maintains its bullish forecast for the Norwegian Krone (NOK) against the euro (EUR), despite acknowledging potential dovish risks. According to ING's latest analysis, as of February 2025, the NOK may face headwinds from possible changes in Norges Bank's policy, which could temper gains.

The primary risk to ING's bullish view stems from a more accommodative monetary policy from Norges Bank. If the central bank signals a slower pace of rate hikes or hints at future cuts, the krone could lose momentum. Market participants are closely watching inflation data and economic growth figures for clues about the central bank's next move.

However, ING believes these risks are manageable and may already be priced in by the market. The bank points to Norway's robust fiscal position, driven by its oil and gas revenues, as a solid foundation for the currency. Additionally, the eurozone's economic challenges, including slower growth and political uncertainties, make the euro less attractive relative to the NOK.
