NZD Gains on Reduced Rate Hike Bets, Strong China Data
The New Zealand Dollar (NZD) has gained against the US Dollar (USD) after NY Fed President John Williams signaled that there is no urgency for an immediate October rate hike. This shift in expectations reduced the probability of a rate increase to around 45%, down from 70.9% the previous day.
The NZD/USD pair rose as the USD weakened following Williams' dovish comments, trading around 0.5650 during European hours on Wednesday. This move came despite the pair registering losses in the previous day.
China's strong economic data also contributed to the NZD's gain, with official figures showing a Manufacturing PMI of 50.1 in September and a rebounding Non-Manufacturing PMI. Private sector surveys also indicated steady overall momentum across Chinese industry and service sectors.
