Pound Sterling Stands Firm Amid Strong UK Growth and Cooling US Inflation
The Pound Sterling maintained its stability against both the US Dollar and Euro on Thursday as UK economic growth came in stronger than anticipated. The data, which showed a 0.3% increase in GDP for June and a 0.4% rise over Q2, bolstered the pound's position.
Meanwhile, US producer inflation cooled off, with the July PPI coming in softer than expected at 4.7%. This development added to expectations that the Federal Reserve may keep rates unchanged.
The UK economy's growth was driven by investment and household spending, while net trade remained neutral and government consumption declined. The solid but not overheating growth has left the Monetary Policy Committee in a wait-and-see stance, with no immediate pressure for easing or tightening.
